Our Approach
At JRA our pricing approach was measured by our desire to be the best partner we can be to both the distributor and the specifier. With that in mind, we chose a line item pricing model that gives the specifier confidence in design, the distributor opportunity for more margin, and the end user a quality materials package that meets their expectations and budget.
To highlight the approach specifically, we quote materials from some of the best brands with all pricing listed by line for each unique item. If the engineer has listed a qualified equal that is not one of our manufacturers, and it has a better price point than we can hit, we allow the distributor to break out that item and use something else that allows them better opportunity. In an ideal scenario, we would love to sell an entire package however we understand that we don’t always have what the end user wants/needs. This approach allows us to be a true partner across all levels that we are involved with and as a whole leads to better health of the industry. We identified these key features of a line item pricing approach:
- Unique and new technology is more accessible to the market because it is not used as leverage to hold a lot price and then loaded with overage. This does justice to the all the manufacturers in the marketplace who are innovating in incredible ways.
- Distributors are able to increase margin on public bid jobs allowing them to create more jobs, hold more inventory, etc.
- Specifiers are able to design using unique materials knowing that it won’t be over budget for their clients.
- End users are able to get the best of the best in terms of product quality and stay on budget.
